My grandparents are aging, and with that their health is failing. It is very hard to watch and hear about there health declining. But this last trip afforded me one more chance to see them. I never know which trip will be the last. During the trip we helped my parents move them into a nursing home. This was very hard on every one. I thought I would share some of my favorite things about my grandparents.
My Grandpa and I were always doing things together as I grew up. We worked for hours on the farm, we hiked, fished and camped. I can remember one hike as a little kid with lots of family. My grandpa and I hung back on the hike out of camp. No one thought anything of grandpa and me lagging behind, until we got out and were waiting around. My Uncle wanted some of the candy Grandpa had put in his pocket. We sheepishly grinned, as Grandpa had feed most of it to me. We did so much together.
My grandma began teaching me how to cook from a young age. One of my first memories is of being rocked my Great Grandmother Walston (My Grandmother's Mother) as she sang "Spring Time in the Rockies," and my Grandma made cookies. She was always making sweets. One of her specials was pie. She could make a pie better then anyone. Grandma always had baked goodies for all of her grand kids. She also made things for us like dolls. I can remember on Christmas where my Grandmother made all of her grandchildren Cabbage Patch dolls. She must have spent hours making those.
My grandparents loved family and being with them. They also loved genealogy. I can remember one fall when the table was littered every night with pictures and scrap booking materials as they put over 20 books together of family genealogy. They spent hours on those Christmas presents, that generations of Yeagers will enjoy forever.
I could say so much more about them. I am sorry that they can't do all that they love to do. I love them and am so grateful for the examples they have been to me.

Its funny that people who fought so hard against any type of help from their family are now all smiles in a nursing home. I truly hope they are happy. Im sure there son is excited to get rid of them cause he can skip town and not have a burden. What a wonderful family I have.
