A Visit to the Farm

We began our trip to Kansas with some very excited boys. They couldn't wait to see Grandpa and Grandma Yeager, the cows, chickens, horses, etc.

The cows lost out this year to the chickens. My parents had over 100 chicks for the boys to play with. Daily we walked down and feed and loved on them. By the end of the week the boys were catching them by themselves.

All the boys loved the 4-wheeler, but Daniel this year ruled it his favorite past time on the farm.

Tractor rides were Nathan's Favorite.

The boys learned a little about guns and shooting them this trip. They loved it.

This was Derek's favorite event.

Horse rides were an adventure. Heidi sold her horse Blaze, which the boys rode the first few times. The horse below is named Moon. Blaze was a good horse for the kids, slow and steady. All three would climb on bare back and Jordan would stand beside them while I lead Blaze. But, this also brought about a problem. One day when Jordan was gone to town the three insisted on riding. Instead of saying no, I put them all on. Nathan up front, then Daniel, Derek on the rear end holding onto Nathan and locking Daniel on.

This worked for a while. Blaze plodded along every so slowly. The boys were all grins. But without warning Daniel decided to get off. In doing so, he pulled all the boys off in a big heap. Thus my boys all fell of there first horse ; not to be the last I'm sure. There were a few tears, but they all got back on Blaze, and as you can see they all rode Moon Beam later.

The drive home. Do they look a little more tired and worn out coming home then the heading out trip???
